THE WEATHER

WELLINGTON, June 21. The weather report is as follows: • The centre of the recent disturbance is moving slowly across Otago. Pressure is low over the South Tasman Sea, and the situation is developing into one of the westerly type. Forecast: Winds north-easterly at first on the coast south of Christchurch; otherwise from a westerly quarter, with north-westerly winds predominating in eastern districts, and west to south-west winds in the western districts, the force being moderate to strong, and reaching gale force at times in parts of the Cook Strait area. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough on the west coast south of Cape Egmont, and also south of Dunedin, but decreasing later in the latter area; elsewhere moderate but rising somewhat north of Cape’ Egmont. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-west-erly winds, gradually turning to north-westerly in the central and southern portions; seas rather rough. Weather changeable in the districts with a westerly aspect, with rain at times, but falls mostly light in those of the North Island. Rain at first also on the east coast south of Christchurch, but improving, and conditions in eastern districts otherwise mainly fair. Moderate temperatures.
