MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast| Rugby Union was held last evening, when there were present: Messrs J. Guy (acting-chairman), T. P. Ryan, F. W. Baillie, J. Steel, H. F. Silcock, T. Mclntosh, A. M. Jamieson, and the secretary, Mr O. McLean. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. Adams and D. R. Dowell. Mr Ryan moved that the senior selector or selectors be appointed next Tuesday night. The motion was seconded by Mr Mclntosh and carried. Four applications for reinstatement were received, and were ordered to be forwarded to the New Zealand Union with a favourable recommendation that they be granted. The Camerons and Bell Hill schools applied for footballs.—The applications were referred to 'the Schools Committee. Mr Mclntosh reported that Mr W. Williams had been appointed by the Referees’ Association to act in conjunction with him in the appointment of referees. The Ross Football Club sought permission to play a junior curtain-raiser to the Canterbury-West Coast match at Greymouth on June s.—lt was decided to advise that the application would be considered when the fixture was being finalised. The Kumara Club wrote stating that its idea of re-donating the Ross Citizens’ Cup was that it be played for in the form of an annual seven-a-side tournament at Kumara. It was pointed out by the chairman that the Union was desirous of putting the suggestion into effect. It was decided to agree to the terms of the Greymouth Trotting Club for the use of Victoria Park for the season.

It was suggested that coaches of teams be asked to check their players into the grounds every Saturday. It was pointed out that the “pass system” had proved a failure, so many of the players losing their passes. It was stated that the only way to overcome the difficulty would be to be more strict with players in demanding the production of the passes.
