Louis Knocks Roper ’ IN FIRST ROUND. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received April 18, 10.15 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, April 18. Joe Louis knocked out Roper in the first round of their scheduled tenround title bout. The knock-out came after only two minutes twenty seconds. Roper was counted out while he was groggily attempting to regain his feet. A right to the jaw, after a series of lefts to the jaw, ended a farcical fight witnessed by the majority of the cinema actors, all of whom were violently pro-Roper. ROPER SCORES WITH ONE PUNCH. (Received April 18, 11.30 p.m.) LOS ANGELES, April 18. At the fight, the crowd numbered 3,500. They paid a hundred thousand dollars, the best seats being priced at 11 dollars 50 cents. * Roper, who is employed as an electrician at one of the film studios, landed a single stinging blow to Louis’s face, after which the champion rushed him to a corner, and knocked him out quickly.

MARRIES A SPANIARD.

Jack Doyle, the boxer, has announced that he was married to the Spanish actress, known as Merelys Movita, last week, in Lower California, where he has been hiding from the United States immigration authorities. He is going to England on May 2, and it is understood mat he win appear in two films for the British International Films. He said that the previous marriage reports about him were false. <■
