ACCIDENTS

KILLED BY CAR. AUCKLAND, March 9. Struck by a motor-car in Parawai Crescent, Grey Lynn, last evening, Thomas Henry Williams, 71, a draper, of Ponsonby, was taken to hospital with extensive injuries from which he died this morning. He was crossing the road when a car driven by James Keohane, of Westmere, struck him. He was dragged for some distance. An inquest was opened before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and adjourned. WOMAN’S FATAL FALL. PALMERSTON N., March 9. A tragic accident occurred on the Ormond road, near Woodville, at 9.45 p.m. yesterday, resulting in the death of Mrs. Elsie Ada Harris, wife of Alfred Harris, a farmer, of Woodville. Mrs. Harris had been with her husband visiting friends, and they were on their way home when the accident, occurred. Mr. Harris, who was driving, noticed that the front door on his wife’s side of the oar was loose on its catch. Mrs. Harris leaned forward to pull it closed, but instead pushed it open and she fell to the roadway, landing on her head. Death was instantaneous. CHRISTCHURCH INJURIES. CHRISTCHURCH, March 9. Albert E. Ager, of Rangiora, suffered' head injuries and concussion when two motor-cars collided on Marshland road, near the Styx bridge, ; this morning. Ager was a passenger ■ in one of the vehicles, which was > driven by his brother. He was admit- ■ ted to the Christchurch Public Hos- '■ pital in an unconscious condition. Eric Mickle, 31, suffered head in- ! juries in a collision between the mo-tor-cycle he was riding and a motor- • car at the corner of Puriri and > Totara streets, Riccarton, to-day. He ; was admitted to the Christchurch ’ Hospital. When he struck a stationary car 1 while riding a cycle near the corner , of Ollivier’s and Ferry roads about ' 2.30 to-night, Jack Ball suffered head t injuries. He was admitted to the _ Christchurch Hospital.
