REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent.] REEFTON, March 10. The annual meeting of the Reefton Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held on Thursday evening in the Band room, Mr E. Riley being in the chair. There was only a moderate attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet, also the balance sheet of the Motuekfe, Queen Carnival was read, and adopted as highly satisfactory, members expressing appreciation pn the large amount of money raised and a hearty .vote of thanks was accorded the Ladies’ Committee and all those that had rendered assistance. Nominations for the various official positions were received as follows: President, Mr lE. Riley (elected unopposed); Vice-President, Mr C. C. Chandler; Secretary-Treasurer, Mr J. McGregor; Committee, Messrs A. Eklund, T. Flaherty, W. McCaffrey, R. Chandler, F. Wright. Messrs F Seawright and J. F- McGregor were appointed Trustets, Mr T. McKenzie auditor; Mr J. McGregor delegate to the Motueka L.R.C.; and Messrs T. Flaherty, A Eklund, R. Chandler, C. Hinton, F Wright and A. Turner as the Social Committee. It was resolved that the Reefton Branch guarantee to raise £5O for the appeal fox the establishing of Labour daily papers. It was decided to hold the annual Labour Party Ball on Friday, June 23, ana that the Social Committee hold cara tourneys and dances on Saturdayi nights. The rain this week, following a dry February, has been welcomed, as tanks needed water, and dredging also, while the swimming baths had been too low for use.
