Semple) announced at,Collingwood the other day that Cabiriet had approved a grant to appoint a full commission of inquiry into the transport facilities for Netson, Province/ ' The announcement was made following the hearing. _of a deputation from ffie ColltrfgWood D’airy Co., headed by Mr C. L. Grant, which complained against the haction of the Golden Bay Dairy Company in collecting cream in the area served by the Collingwood factory.
After the secretary of fhe Collingwood Dairy Company (Mr L. J. Salyigny) had read a protest from his company alleging that the competition of the Golden Bay Daily Co. in the Collingwoo(}/area was unfair, Mr Semple stated tliat he had submitted a report on the Nelson, Takaka and Collingwood districts and had placed before Cabinet a proposal to ’set up q commission of inquiry in an endeavour to prevent overlapping of services, not only in, cream collection but also in other produce. The Collingwood Company, should .receive a sympathetic hearing from the commission, which would consist, of representatives of road, rail and sef The would probably cost £looo.’ The.proposal had been approved by Cabinet and had now gone to the Treasury.
