The funeral of James Reynolds, one of th< victims of the Castle Finn, explosion, reported on November 28, led to an encounter between armed detectives and members of the Irish Republican Army. The echoes of the “Last Post” had barely died out when six men, armed with rifles, approached in order to fire a volley over the grave. Detectives, however, rushed forward. They failed to prevent the firing, which attracted forty uniformed Civil Guards. The mourners then Vook panic. Some Women fainted.
