Mrs J. McPhee, Runanga, has been admitted to the Grey Hospital for treatment. Mr and Mrs T. Dunn, Barrytown, and Mrs Kennedy, Runanga, left yesterday by car, to attend the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting. The engagement is announced of Gladys, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Gilmore, Arney Street, to Charles Archibald, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Richardson, Inchbonnie. The appointment of Mr Leonard Frederick Robins, as a producers’ representative on the New Zealand Honey Control Board, has been gazetted. Mr J. Emsworth, manager of the Regent Theatte, will leave this morning for Wellington on annual leave. During his absence Mrs O’Neill will be in charge. \ ~ Guests at Revington’s Hotel include Mr S. W. Gullett (Melbourne), Mr and Mrs J. Wallace-Smith (Sydney), Mr T. R. Clarkson (Wellington), Mr A. Ray (Christchurch), Mr E. Hewitt (Wellington).

Mr D. A. Reid, who will leave today on transfer to the Mines Department, Wellington, was farewelled by members of the Celtic Football Club, and presented with a set of hair brushes. The presentation was made by Mr P. D. Clancy, who, on behalf of members, thanked Mr Reid for the fine work he had done for the club, and wished him every success. Messrs F. Saunders and G. Fogarty also spoke in appreciation of Mr Reid’s services.

The death occurred yesterday after a brief illness at the residence of her daughter, Mrs F. W. Baillie, Bright Street, Cobden, of Mrs Jane Elizabeth Wood, aged 72 years. Deceased was a native of Christchurch, being a daughter of the late Joseph Hansmann, builder, of that city. She came to Greymouth two weeks ago, on a holiday visit. Her husband predeceased her six months ago, and she is survived by one son, Lionel, of the Public Trust Office, and one daughter, Mrs Baillie. The funeral will take place this afternoon, leaving Cobden at 2 o’clock for the Karoro Cemetery.
