LINESMAN KILLED

BY SHORT CIRCUIT. NEW PLYMOUTH. May 26. Nelson Tuck, aged 31, died as the result of an electric shock. He was ’a linesman employed by the New -Plymouth Borough Council, and had two children, his wife still being in a maternity hospital with the voungest.

Tuck, with other members of the staff, was working on lines at Vogeltown. He climbed a pole to cut off the power to facilitate the work. He signalled that the power had been disconnected. Then there was a flash, as though of short-circuit. Tuck fell backwards to the ground, probably receiving a severe injury in the fall. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, but died soon afterwards. This is the second fatal accident in similar circumstances among the same staff in a few months.
