£1000 DAMAGES
For Widow of Motor Cyclist COLLISION WITH LORRY. [Per Press Association.] HASTINGS, May ’.’6. Damages for plaintiff fpr a sum of £lOOO were fixed by a jury in x hel Supreme Court at Napier in an accident claim for £2,520, brought by a widow, for the death of her husband in a motor accident. The claim was for £2O funeral expenses and 12,500 general damages, and it vas brought by Margaret Jessie Boyce, fcr the death of her husband, Leslie ‘ 'fiver Boyce, in a motor accident it Whakatu on July 16 of last year. The defendants were Russell Wil’iam Spencer and George M. Spencer of Hastings.
Counsel for the plaintiff, at vest?r-| day’s hearing, said that Boyce vas riding a motor cycle along the Hnst-ings-Whakatu road at a 'low pace, a little on the correct side of the middle of the road. A motor lorry, carrying a load of shingle, was being driven by Russell Spencer, a boy aged 17, along the Clive-Whakatu r< ad. The two vehicles collided at an intersection. Negligence was alleged on the part of the defendant.
