HOKITIKA, May 19-

The wedding took place at St. Mary's Church, Christchurch, on May 10, of Miss Eileen Harvey Moore, of Hokitika, to Mr William John Barrington, of Wellington, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Dr. Geaney, S.M. . , The weather has remained comparatively mild, earlier indications ol wintry cold not yet having been realised.

The following passengers were carried by Air Travel (N.Z.), Ltd., passenger service to-day:—Hokitika to Jackson Bay, Mr B. Rope;. Hokitika to Waiho-return, Mr C. Childs; Hermit age-Waiho, Miss Stevenson; Hokitika to Okuru-return, Messrs G. II Chapman, H. Warrail and P. E. L. Renton.

Visitors to Hotel Westland include: Miss D. E. Dykes (Wanganui), Mi L. H. Beauchamp (Christchurch), M. J. W. Goodwin, Mr F. Phillips (Sydney), Mr M. Church (England), Mr Puklowski, Mr Worrall, Mr Kyle, Mr Howard, Miss Toogood, Mrs Stewart, Miss Allison. At the monthly meeting of Franz Josef Women’s Institute on Tuesday, there was a good attendance, Mrs E. A. Gibb presiding. “One laugh is worth one hundred groans at any market,” was the motto, and the roil call, “What I am most afraid of,” brought amusing answers There was a very good entry for competitions, which resulted: —Best Bowl of native foliage, Miss M. Graham 1; Miss L. Graham 2; Mrs L. Gibb 3. Four Savouries: Miss L. Graham 1; Mrs P. Graham 2; Mrs L. Gibb 3. Mrs P. Graham concluded a travel talk “From England to New Zealand,” which was very much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served by the new committee.

Guests at the Red Lion Hotel include:—Mr R. McGillivray (Christchurch), Mr J. O’Reilly (Greymouth), Mr W. Beresford (Greymouth), Mr and Mrs R. Regnault (Harihari), Mrs J. Durnford (Evans Creek), Mr P. C. Clayton (Queenstown), Mr F Pilcher (Christchurch), Mr A. W. Robertson, Mr E. Schofield (Okuru), Mr R. Frostick (Christchurch), Miss A. Lancaster, Miss R. Pederson (Takapau, H. 8.), Miss R. Lancaster (Christ-, church), Miss R. Campbell (Wanganui.)

The following is the Tahua hockey team to play Wesley (Greymouth), on Saturday:—Cooper, Day, Spence, Hurren, Wyldey (2), Bergin, Powers. Rawlings, Mitchell, Sumner, Fleming, McMullan and Stapleton. The following team will represent the Pirates Football Club on Saturday next, in their match with United (Greymouth), on Cass Square:—

Staines, Madison, Pfahlert, Mclntyre, Agnew, Tainui, Ritchie (2), Thorpe, Parker, Growcott, H. George, Hewlett, Harris and James.

The following golf partners have been drawn for a four-ball bogey handicap on Saturday, May 21— Greive 30 and Russell 12; Mclntosh 30 and Millner 17; Stopforth 30 and E. A. Johnson 30; Rev.
