£200 STOLEN

Auckland Mystery LEFT OUT OF SAFE. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 18. The theft of a large sum of money, 'believed to exceed £2OO, from the premises of Walter Lambourne, Ltd., house furnishers, of Ponsonhy, is being investigated by detectives. The money, which was contained in bags, was found to be missing when the firm’s premises were opened for business on Tuesday morning, and the police were advised. The money, which included banknotes and cheques, was not left in the safe when the firm’s premises were closed on Monday. It was thought, however, to have been put away securely, but it was located by an intruder who, so far, has evaded detection.

There is an element of mystery surrounding the theft. Alterations are in progress at the shop, and it is not known precisely by what means the thief gained entry.. The investigation is being continued.
