Racing Notes

Black Banner: According to a southern report, Black Banner has completely recovered from the sprain he received at the Birchwood Hunt meeting at Invercargill in March, and is working pleasingly at Riverton. All going well in the meantime, the Balboa gelding is to make his .next appearance at the Dunedin winter meeting, his mission being the Otago Steeplechase. Shy: According to an Auckland report, Shy has done well since the Avondale meeting, and is getting through a solid preparation in view of his engagements at Te Rapa this week. The going has been against the Valcyrian gelding of late, but no fault

can be found with his condition. If the ground happens to be firm at. Te Rapa, he is likely to be seen to better advantage. Wee Pat: Wee Pat, winner of the Great Northern Hurdles in 1934, has been taken up again by A. Kemp. She looks in excellent trim to commence another preparation. During her retirement she produced a foal to Autonay. D uroto: After her pointless victory at Wanganui on Saturday, Puroto will not be paying big prices again for ,some time. G. W New deserves congratulations on the improvement he has effected in this full-sister to Martara. Form?: If Catalogue’s form at Wanganui deserved the attention it received, why ■ was the public not given an explanation of Iddo’s form? It is neverthe- • less believed that A. Jenkins rode his ■ hardest to make Iddo do better in ■ the Century Hurdles on the first day • Sunee: Sunee has returned to active work , at Trentham. but his splint has not. , yet completely disappeared, and. his . tasks are of a light order. It is un- t likely that he will be racing again till the late winter. ■ Black Marlin: 1 The promising jumper Black Mar- . lin, who. it was feared, had ended his'. racing days, is now reported from J

Hukerenui as being perfectly sound, the trouble having been located. He will soon rejoin the horses in training. Unlucky: One of the most unlucky horses in his recent racing has been the Psychology gelding Joe Louis, who has been forced into attempting almost hopeless tasks. It would not surprise to find this horse winning a good race this winter. Artful Dodger: Artful Dodger has evidently recovered sooner than anticipated from his soreness after his racing at Wanganui, as he has been entered for the Foxton meeting.
