No “Give and Take” U.S. OFFICIAL ATTITUDE - [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) NEW YORK, March 10.. The Washington representative of tne United Press states that he learned the United States has rejected applications by British and Netherland commercial air bases at Hawaii, on the ground that America is not willing to expose her Hawaiian defences to the view of foreign airliners, over which she would have little control; also the likelihood that, if the application were granted, others, including Japan, would seek the same concession. The British proposed to use the base as a stopping-point between Australia and Vancouver. JAP INTEREST. TOKIO, March 10. Mr Noda remarked that Japan js watching with interest America’s occupation of the Phoenix .Islands, disputing British sovereignty, but is not prepared to comment.
