The British proposed to use the base as a stopping-point between Australia and Vancouver. JAP INTEREST. TOKIO, March 10. Mr Noda remarked that Japan js watching with interest America’s occupation of the Phoenix .Islands, disputing British sovereignty, but is not prepared to comment.
