SIZE OF SCHOOL ROOMS. [Per Press Association!. NELSON, February 21. Alarm at the attempts being made to restrict the size of new school classrooms is expressed in a teso ution passed by the executive committee of the Golden Bay-Motueka branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. The committee excesses whole-hearted support tor the policy of the institute. The move by the Auckland Education Board to restrict the size of classrooms from 26 feet by 24 feet to 24 feet by 21 _• feet is felt to be against the interests ot the children. The Minister tor Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) has been supplied with a copy of the iesolution. TIMARU SEAT. TIjIARU, February 21. The Timaru labour Representation Committee, representative of 3,000 workers, at a (meeting on Saturday night, received . nominations from nine affiliations fori the Labour candidate for the Timaru seat at the General Election. Palmer Jones (Wanganui), were elected to succeed Messrs T. M. Geddis and L. C. Young, who retired by rotation. At a subsequent meeting of directors, Sir Cecil Leys was unanimously elected chairman. The retirement of Sir Henry Horton from the Board of Directors was announced, and satisfaction was expressed that a representative of the third generation, in Sir Henry’s son, Mr. R. D. Horton, had been appointed to the Board, in succession to his father.
