[Our Own Correspondent]. A sitting of the Magistrate’s - Court, with Mr Raymond Iferner, S.M., on the Bench, was held at Wataroa on February 10. T. W. Jones. £3O and costs; M. W. Gunn v. H. Cameron, £4 18s aiyl costs; J. Donovan v. J. Thomspn, £lO -12 s 9d. In the case of J. Donovan v. Thomson and Phelan, judgment was given against Thomson for £35 4s and costs. S. K. McKenzie, for whom Mr J. Elcock appeared, sued D. F. Dennchy for £7B 13s 4d. and was given judgment for £3l 6s 9d. A meeting of the Wataroa School Committee was held on Friday evening. Accounts amounting to £l3 9s 8d were passed for payment. Correspondence from the Canterbury Education Board re improvements to the school grounds and the remodelling of the school building were discussed, and it was resolved that the secretary be instructed to communicate with the Minister of Education and Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., in regard to these matters which the' members of the committee considered had now reached the stage of extreme urgency. Appreciation of the fact that a supernumerary teacher had been added to the staff was expressed, but the opinion was given that such an addition served the more to stress the inadequacy pf the existing accommodation. Arrangements were also made to have grass-cutting and other urgent works about the school carried out at the earliest possible moment.

A slip on the road south of Wataroa, in the vicinity of Lake Mapourika, caused a considerable disorganisation of traffic on Saturday, as the road was blocked from the early morning until the late afternoon. Passengers to and from the Glaciers were transferred across the slip, but through traffic had a long wait.
