NEW MINISTRY
FOR COMMONWEALTH Personnel Announced [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received November 29, 11 P-flfi.) CANBERRA, November 29. The Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons), announced to-day, the new Commonwealth Ministry. The Ministry, which was sworn in this evening iis as follows: — Prime Minister —Mr J. A. Lyons. Minister of Commerce and Heaitn —Doctor Earl Page. Attorney-General and Minister tor I Industries —Mr Robert G. Menzies. Minister of External Affairs, VicePresident of the Executive Council, and Minister for the Territories R r W. M. Hughes. _ . Treasurer, and Minister-in-Charge of Development —Mr Richard G. Casey. ■ Minister of Customs—Mr T. W. White. u v Minister of Defence —Mr H. V. Thorby. T , r Postmaster-General and Leader or the Government in the Senate—Senator A. J. McLachlan. Minister of the Interior—Mr John McEwen. Minister for Repatriation—Senator H. S. Foil.
Assistant-Minister of Commerce Mr A. G. Cameron. Second Assistant-Minister of Commerce—Senator A. N. MacDonald. Assistant-Minister to the Treasury —Mr V. C. Thompson. Assistant-Minister of Customs —Mr J. A. Perkins. The new Cabinet is regarded as being a strong one, and as being representative of all Parties and States. The major Portfolios have been retained by most of the original Ministers, with the exception of that of Defence, which will in future be handled by the Country party member, Mr Thorby, who was formerly a Minister in the New South Wales Legislature, and was held in high esteem.
