West Coast Championships LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. At the Drill Hall last evening, the West Coast table ''tennis championships commenced, and many interesting games were witnessed. The only competitions finalised were the ladies’ singles and doubles, Miss Boddy defeating Miss Ray in the singles final by a very narrow margin, while Misses Boddy and Ray similarly won the doubles final from Mrs Neville and Miss Quayle, the losers actually scoring more points, owing to their winning margin in the second set being a large one. The first appearance in New Zealand of the Hungarian table tennis players drew more than 600 to the Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium last evening. The Hungarians’ play was brilliant, and they won easily against local players. T. Kelen won an exhibition match with his fellow visitor, M. Szabados, by 21-17 in the deciding set.
