WAIUTA NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent! Mr Les Harvey is spending a short holiday in the North Island. Mr Jas. O’Brien,. M.P., will speak in the Miners’ Hall on Sunday afternoon next, at 2.30 p.m. The public are reminded not to miss the opportunity of hearing one of Parliament’s most fluent speakers. Mr and Mrs F. Powick are spending a few days in Christchurch. Dr. K. Brokenshire, medical cfficer to the Waiuta Miners’ Medical Association, leaves on Thursday morning on annual leave. Mr W. J. Hall, of the staff of the Blackwater Mines, Ltd., has been appointed Manager of the Alexander Mine, and takes up his new duties at the end of the month. Inangahua Junction juniors defeated Waiuta juniors at Waiuta on Saturday by 11 points to 10. Waiuta seniors defeated Reefton seniors on Sunday by 16 points to 15. The weekly card evening, held in the Sample Rooms, was well attended. Mrs L. Harvey won the ladies’ prize, while Mr Jas. Smith annexed the gent’s. Mr and Mrs W. Stansbury and family leave during the week for the Nelson district, where they will in future reside.
