BLOOD FROM CORPSES

FOR CANCER TREATMENT. RUSSIAN PROFESSOR’S CLAIMS. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August 13, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 13. A new era in the surgical treatment of Cancer, by the transfusion of blood from corpses, is claimed by Professor S. S. Yudin, of Moscow. In an article in “The Lancet,” Professor Yudin describes how the blood from a man who had been dead for six hours, after a bus accident, was successfully given to an engineer who was dying from loss of blood after a suicide attempt, the patient recovering in two days. Experiments with over one thousand transfusions of blood from corpses, Professor Yudin claims, convince him that the method is most successful in combating Cancer haemorrhages. He says he has been able to obtain large supplies of blood, thanks to the delivery of bodies to him from all over Moscow from the first aid ambulances. The blood has been stored and was used successfully for three weeks.
