OYSTER BOATS COLLIDE

One Sinks OUTSIDE OF BLUFF. [Per Press Association], INVERCARGILL, August 11. At 11 o’clock this morning, while oystering on the beds off Bluff, the oyster boat, “Rita,” owned by Irwin and Company, and commanded by Captain M. Moss, collided with the “Black Cat,” another oyster boat, owned by the Direct Fish and Oyster Company, and commanded by Captain W. Johnson. The Black Cat was hit amidships. Her engines were damaged, and she sank within twenty minutes. Her crew were taken off by the Rita and the Waitangi. The sea was fairly calm, and no one was injured.
