(Our Own Correspondent). Mr and Mrs Kearns and family, o£ Waikari, North Canterbury, arrived on Saturday on a visit to Mrs Kearns’ parents, Mr and Mrs D. Kennedy, Taylorville. Mr J. Serson, who has been on inmate of the Grey Hospital for some months, returned to his home on Saturday. Mr F. Fletcher left yesterday morn” ing on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mrs Warren, senr., who has been visiting her relatives at Taylorville, left on return to Christchurch on Saturday. Mrs J. Ford, Dobson, has left on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Taylorville School Committee held their monthly meeting in the school. Present: Messrs T. W. Morgan (chairman), L. Dando, R. R. Smith, R. J. le Cron, F. Slater, and the headmaster, Mr McCullough. The Board wrote stating that Mr McCullougn s resignation had been accepted, and that steps would b’e taken to expedite the appointment of his successor. The Board also intimated that the incidental allowance would be at the same rate as last year, and would be payable monthly. The headmaster reported that the school roll was S 5, and average attendance for July was 95 per cent. Dr. Baker had examined all pupils the previous week and had nothing serious to report. In making his last report before leaving the district, Mr McCullough expressed appreciation of the pleasant relations which had always existed between the committee and himself, and hoped the same would continue when the new headmaster took office. Mr T. Morgan expressed the committee’s regret at Mr McCullough’s departure and wished him success and happiness in his new appointment. The committee is making arrangements for a public farewell function to Mr McCullough.
