SELASSIE’S MEMOIRS

NOT TO BE PUBLISHED. REASONS NOT DIVULGED. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August 5, 10.45 p.m.) LONDON, August 5. The “News Chronicle” says: Haile Selassie’s memoirs, including a personal account of the Abyssinian war and of events leading up to it and since last autumn, has been withdrawn, for “political reasons.” A London publisher, Michael Joseph, to whom Selassie was under contract, said Selassie’s solicitors have informed him that, for political considerations that could not be revealed, he would be unable to publish his manuscript. Joseph added: “Selassie’s decision is not due to political pressure, but to advice received from his po-. litical advisers.”
