They comprised unattractive lots- Forward wethers maintained their values fairly well. Lambs sold a|t late ratesThe mutton entry comprised a small offering, with much of indiffen ent- quality- Ther e was a distinct scarcity of wethers, which sold spiritedly at an advance of Is 6d per head- The butchers were unable |to fill their requirements with wethers, and they created a rise in the values for fat ewes- Exporters were also actively in the market. Only 900 fat lambs were yardedThe qualify was generally poor. Best quality were firm at a shade above the schedule. Other grades had a dragging saleThe beef comprised slightly a larger entry, a big proportion being of indifferent quality- There was a dragging sale from the outset, the butchers being well stocked'up consequentupon an oversupply for some weeks past- Good beef wa s 20s per head easier, and lighter sorts were 153 down- Ex|tra heavy bullocks sold to £l5 17s 6d, prime heavv £lO 15s to £l5 15s, prime medium £9 15s to £lO 10s,- ordinary £8 10s to £9 10s- Best prime heifers sold to £ll 2s 6d. prime £6 to £7 15s, medium £4 10s to £5 15s, light from £4 ss.
