RATES ON CROWN LANDS

To be Paid in Future GOVERNMENT’S IMPORTANT DECISION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 5. The announcement that the Government will pay rents on Crown Lands was made by the Prime Minister, Rt Hon M. J. Savage, in an interview at Wellington yesterday. He sat'd he was not prepared to discuss the details at present, but he pointed out that where the Crown, held land and where no rates were paid, it meant that rates had to be made up by tho holders of the land in the locality.
