ATMORE REPORT

To be Given Effect LABOUR’S PROJECTED LEGISLATION. T.IMARU, March 5. Speaking at Pleasant Point, Rev Clyde Carr, M.P., National President of thc New Zealand Labour Party, stated that the Government Members of Parliament had a Select Committee on education, of which ho was the chairman. This committee was-en-gaged, under the instructions ot tho Minister of Education, in draughting proposals, based on the recommendations of fhc Atmore Report, for the reorganisation of tho education system. These proposals, after having been submitted to tho educational authorities, will later be placed before the Select Committee as a. whole, when further evidence, will, be called. A consolidation and. amending bill will then be introduced in Parliament. It was thus hoped to expedite thc passing of the measure during next session.
