GERMANY’S CAMPAIGN
Against Race Suicide (Ans. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received March 5, 9 p.m.) BERLIN. March 4. Official statistics show that 1,290,000 babies were born in Germany last year. This was 20,000 more than in 1936; and 300,000 more than in 1933. Nevertheless the family limitation authorities arc disappointed with the results of the larger families campaign for the 1936 total represents only 19.2 babies per thousand of the population, whereas the rate in 1920 was 25.9, The new German criminal code provides imprisonment for all co-respon-dents and for adulterers, and it provides penalties for the advocates of family limitation.
