THE WEATHER
(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 21. The weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: A weak anticyclone has been crossing the Dominion to-day, -while a shallow depression is approaching slowly across the Tasman Sea. Pressure is high over eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds light to moderate, and variable, but north-easterly to northerly predominating. A southerly chi.inge is probable- to-night in the south, extending over most of the Dominion within the next 24 to 36 hours. Seas in New Zealand walers; Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light northerly to westerly winds in the northern portion; elsewhere, variable, but later southerlies are prevailing generally, and freshening- somewhat. Seas slight to moderate. Weather: Fair generally at first, but soon becoming cloudy to overcast, with mist or fog in places, and scattered min in most districts. Temperatures are becoming cooler. 1
