At St. John’s Presbyterian Church vestonlay morning Rev IL R- Pell e<’ebmted the. wedding of Maureen Isobe , eldest daughter of Mr. and Mi>. M. !’• Washer, Cobden and Kelvin Ashwoith, onlv son of Mr. C. Speak, of Greymouth. Miss M. Coburn was at 01- Mr.' H. Gilmour of Cobden in the absence of her father escorted the bride who was attired in a frock o. white dull finished eloque, falling from the, neckline in a soft cowl. lh.. sleeves formed a puff to the elbow and were tight-fitting to the wrist, finishing with a. row of buttons of the same material. The. skirt, which wM cut on slim' fitting lines fell in a cascade, forming a full tiain edged with pleated silk net. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a halo of orange blossoms, whilst her bouquet was of arum lilies, white dahlias and maiden-hair fern. Miss Audrey Washer sister ot the bride attended as bridesmaid wearing •i frock of Margaret Rose pebble crepe, ent on classical lines, the skirt bein'* composed of very narrow panel.-, forming a. battlement effect, on the bodice in front, and widening out to form a full short train at the back. The blouse accentuated the slimness ol the skirt with the full short puff raglan sleeve, finely shirred at the shoulders. The soft cowl front was caught at one side by a posy in self material. The waistline was finished at the back bv a wide swathed belt and large velvet buckle. She wore a picture hat and shoes to tone, and carried a bouquet of dahlias, roses and maidenhair fern. The little flower girl. Errol Washer. was gowned in an ank.e length frock of left nee-green pebble crepe She carried a basket of earnations,’ r oses. and maidenhair fern. Mr. George Murphy of Runanga attended as best man. At the reception held in Harker’s Tea Rooms, the bride's mother received the guests, wearing a. brown pin-strip-ed tailored costume, and a fur stole. She carried a posy of orange-shaded Spring Howers. Mrs Speak wore a wine-coloured ensemble, and carried a posy of Spring flowers. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Harcourt, was attired in n blftck ensemble <ind wore ftblack stole. Mr. and Mrs. K. A. Speak left later by the express, the bride wearing a navy and white-spot-ted frock, navy coot and hat and shoes to tone. ’ Their future home will be in Christchurch.
