HOUSING SCHEME
ANGLICAN SYNOD Praises the Government (Per .Dress Association). AUCKLAND, October 20. Satisfaction with the intention of the Government io provide better housing conditions for the people, was expressed in a rest*iution to-day by the Anglican Synod here. At the same time, it was decided to urge the Government., in making its plans fur Ihe housing scheme, to regard the aged and infirm as having the first claim on its efforts. Archbishop Averill said that he regarded this motion as being one of the most important to come before the Synod’. He hoped that every C'hiistian in the diocese would do everything m his power to help the housing scheme. To his mind, there was nothing more in accord with God’s work thaai such a proposal to provide homes for old people. It did not mailer, said Dr. Averill if the resolution concerned politics. Sometimes, he thought, ehimchmen were too concerned' lest something before tjiem fringed on .polities. In this case, any Government, no matter what its party, would deserve the support of everybody.
