BAND CONTEST
CANTERBURY RESULTS. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH. October IS. Nine pipe bands and five brass bands entered for the annual contest of the Canterbury provincial Bands' Association, held yesterday. Christchurch Highland Band won both the Quickstep and Selection for pipo bands. Timaru Highland Band was second in the Quickstep and the Canterbury Caledonian Band tied with Timaru for second in the Selection. The B Grade Quickstep in the brass section, was won by Ashburton, with Christchurch Municipal second, and the, same two hands were ' first and second likewise in the Test Selection. Timaru Municipal Junior won the C Grade Quickstep and Selection, Geraldine being second in both cases. The Pipe Band results were:— Band Drill Music Hdc. Tl.
