THREATENED BY A FIRE. NEW YORK. October Hi. Seventy' military police on a fireboat took ian ‘hour to extngunh a fire in a two-storey building at the base of) the Statue of Liberty at dawn to-day. The 'statue was not damaged. The torch remained shining throughout.
