TO SAVE WHALES

U.S.A. REGULATIONS. 14 TYPES DYING OUT. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) WASHINGTON. October 17. Under a new set of Department of Commerce regulations issued under the Geneva Treaty of 1931, American seamen are forbidden to slaughter fourteen types of whales which are threatened with extinction. Eskimos in their own boats with their own weapons are exempted, because whale blubber _ is their favourite food. The regulations will have little effect on the American seamen, who catch only two per cent, of the world’s supply.
