RUNANGA DEBATING CLUB
ENTERTAIN IW.E.A. Members of the Runanga Debating Club spent an enjoyable evening, when the members of the W.E.A. Circle were their guests at the Anglican Hall. An entertaining debate between the two bodies .took place. The subject, “In view of her place in life, every married woman should receive a salary from the Government,” furnished ground for a humorous discussion. The teams were: Messrs S. Braithwaite (leader), 11. A’rnj, and T. Howard (Affirmative). and Miss AL Tyson (leader), Alesdames B. Smith and J. Smith. The judge (Air AV. Wick) when summing up, commended the ladies for their sound argument, and presented them with the silver challenge cup. lie had no hesitation in saying that their victory was well merited. Interesting competitions were held, the winners being: Aliss At. Tyson and Mr T. Howard (commands). Airs BSmith and Air A. Airns (musical arms), Alias AL Tyson and Air W. Caldwell (statue barn dance), Airs J. Braithwaite and Air W. Caldwell (general knowledge). A duct singing competition proved a great success., the winners of which were Alessrs A. Kinsey and S. Braithwaite.
