BOWLING

NEW COBDEN CLUB. At a meeting of C’obden residents, on Thursday evening, it was decided to form a Bowling Club. Mr T. Gilmour presided ove r a good attendance. Correspondence showig what steps had been taken to date, was read by Mr J. Nelson. A piece of suitable land had been secured at the lower end of Bright .Street; and West Coast Centre wrote, promising a donation of £2O as soon as work was commenced. Itt was also intimated that support would be forthcoming from other sources. It was decided that- the club be known as the Cobden Bowling Club, The following officers were elected: —Patron. Hon. (P 1 . O'. Webb; President, Mr AV. Kells; Vice-President, Mr T. Gilmour; Sec-Treasurer, Mr D. R. Lloyd; Committee. Messrs T. Clark, L. Jackson, 11. Barrett, Crooks, AV. Forsyth, J. S. Ford, AV. Jackson and U. Mettrick.

The fixing of the annual subscription was left to a future meeting. The club decided fo meet monthly on the last Monday of each month. It was decided that- all members and intending members meet on the ground during the week-end, with the surveyor, to map out a plan of rvork. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs T. Clark Nelson, Peek, Bunt; and M, Minehan, for their assistance in the preliminary work in connection with the club.
