(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON. October 14. The terms of the agreement entered, into between the Christ,churc.i sfPress”5 f Press” Company and the Railways Department, for the running of a 'railcar between Christchurch and’ the West Coast were disclosed in a return? tabled in the House of Representatives, by the Minister of Railways (Mr Sullivan) at the request of Mr Holyoake. It stated; Some time ago, the Department had under eonsideration the question of utilising the railcar between Greymouth and Christchurch, as a night service. Christchurch' “Press’ Company Limited, was prepared to subsidise such service, it the rail-car were scheduled to iun from Christchurch at a time that would be suitable for the conveyance of newspapers of the Company to the West Coast. The service was provided, under the following conditions: (1) The Company to pay a subsidy of £1.750 a year for the conveyance of newspapers •from Christchuich to Hokitika, payment to be made fourweekly. . (2) The terms of agreement to be two years, the charges to be reviewed at the end of six mouths, when the Department will take into consideration the extent to which passenger traffic has been developed by the provision of the service. (3) Freight charges at the ordinaiy rate to be paid by the Company on newspapers carried on the rail-car, sneb charges to be additional to the subsidy. .
