Canal and River Traffic FUEL SHORTAGE FEARED. (Aus. & N.Z. CabG Assn.) PARIS, October 14. A grave warning has been issued by the Union of Petroleum Suppliers, that Paris is threatened with a famine in petrol, coal, and newsprint, owing to the sudden extension of the bargees’ strike. Canal and' river traffic to Paris is at a standstill. Barricades of boats have been drawn across the waterways, by the strikers, and Paris is isolated by water. Bakeries and factories lack fuel. The petrol refineries at Havre and Rouen are threatened with a stoppage of work, as it is impossible to dispose of production.
