Pirate’s Last: Since being converted to the pacing gait pirate’s Last has done everything required of him at Epsom in a very taking manner and this novice should not be long in winning his first race A feature of bis work has been the attractive manner in which he has been running on over the concluding r-tages. He does nothing wrong, and paces in a very free style. Gay 'Sister: ) Gay Sister, who recently arrived at Epsom and joined E. N. Kennei'ley > stable, has not been required to go fast as yet. but is a pacer who puts plenty of heart into her work. This mare has shown plenty of pace over short distances in the south, and she ,-liould get plenty o.f favourable oppor- ) unities to augment her reedrd in the fut tire. Lustre: A sister to White Satin. Nicoya, and Plain Pearl, the six,-year-old Lustre who is trained by G. McKendry, shotted up for a. while in the Drayton Handicap at Methven. and when she is better conditioned she may do web among the trotters. Hambletoifan Stakes: There were ten starters in this year’s Hambletonian. the value of which was 35,000 dollars. The cost to skirt was 500 dollars, and it was necessary to win two heats out of three to collect Irrst money. The attendance was the largest in'the history of the event. On the same day the fastest mile by a pacer was 2min Ijscc. which speaks well for the Hambletoiran (Rosalind, 2min IJsee) speed at the trot. As Rosalind won both heats outright, there was no third heat. Great |Guy? , . . Great Guy is reported to be doing what is required in pleasing style atEpsom, but his tasks are not exacting Bv Guv Parrish—Lou Lee (imp), the voting ' trotter is bred on the best American lines. Great Guy shows the quality of his breeding, but he may take time to develop. MJunga 'Tang": Munga Tangi, heralded as one oi the best improvers in the Auckland Province after his lw o easy vietor.es in the winter, has not reasiled C.xpiua. ti oll s this season. Ue showed a glimpse of his best at the 'Angus meeting until he made a / cost him the race, but at Claudciands he gave an indifferent display. Getting On: . Auto Machine, who is to by campaigned again this season, is sixteen years old. This Australian-bred stallion has worn remarkably well, and was a winner last season. Ironside: . Ironside, the mainstay oi .1. G. Robertson's team, is well placed tor twomile events at the Auckland tmg, ami. being a good stayer, Hie Wrack gelding only requires to be attuned to have fine prospects. Having twice recorded*-Imin <3l 2-25 sec, Ironside is likely to go faster under good conditions. Royal Jewel: When he won in February, Loyal Jewel improved ISsec on his handicap.
