REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, October 14. Airs W. Gore-Porter, who underwent a serious operation at Greymouth, was reported this morning as doing well. The Inspector of Factories and Weights and Measures were on an official visit to Reefton to-day. The whole of the trophies for the annual West. Coast. Fire Brigades’ Demonstration, to be held in Reefton on October 31st, are now to hand, and will be placed in Patterson’s window, Broadway. These are the Morley Cup. Rose Cup, Otira Citizens’ Chip, Powley Alemorial Cup, Benyon Alemorial Cup, Thompson Memorial, and Grogan Shields, and the silver tankards and medals. The trophies make a very fine display and will be greatly admired. The weather continues to be wet and unpleasant, and to-day a cold south-westerly wind has been blowing. With the snow on the ranges the temperature has been very low, more reminiscent of winter than late. spDng.
