VISIT TO GREY’M’OUTH. “The G-irl in Red,” -who is in private life Aliss Nita Rosslyn, and who is touring the world on a push-bike, i.s at present visiting Greymouth. Miss Rosslyn is known as “The Girl in Red” on account of her all-scarlet uniform, which she adopted in order to be conspicuous in the midst of the traffic of Great Britain. Her travels commenced a't Manchester on July 10, 1930, -and on November 7, 1934, she was officially recognised as a world traveller by Cycle by the presentation at the Olympia Cycle Show, London of a specially built bicycle. The cycle was presented to her by Lieutenant Colonel John Colville, on behalf of the Great Traders Union, and was in recognition of the fact that she had travelled over 40i000 miles on strange roads. Her mileage to date approaches 50,000. Her equipment with the machine weighs one cwt. Her baggage, which travels by rail, weighs over half a ion. Last week she flew down to Weheka, but on account of bad weather had' to return by motor. So thrilled was she by the beautiful scenery. of South Westland that she intends to make the journey by cycle in about three weeks time. Prior to her cycle tour she had travelled by ordinary transit throughout South and Central America, the West. Indies, or 19 countries in all. She has spent practically the whole of her life travelling. On Tuesday she was met and welcomed at the Town Hall by the Mayor of Grey mouth, Mr. W. Aleldrum, who presented her with a civic document bearing a tourist seal. Miss Roslyn leaves Greymouith for iSeddonville this week.
