“HER MASTER’S VOICE.” That proverbial fear of one’s mother in-law and her caustic tongue, together ■with the successful attempts of a middle-aged Babbit to overcome it, furnish the theme of (Paramount’s “Iler Master’s Voice,” sparkling new comedy which opens to-night at the Regent. Theatre featuring Edward Everett Horton. Peggy Conklin, Laura Hope Crees and Elizabeth Patterson. Taken from Clare Kummer’s successful Broadway stage play, “Her Master’s Voice” is
grand comedy, telling of the tribulations of Ned Farrar (Horton) who -s suffering from too much mother-in-law and is just out of a job. Mother-in-law (Elizabeth Patterson) is one of those delightful persons who only stops reminding Ned that he’s out of work when she shifts over to the theme of her daughter’* mistake in marrying him. “WOMAN TRAP.” Jewel thieves, a. front-page reporter, a thrill-seeking girl, and a Federal Agent posing as a “bad man” provide the adventure-bristling elements of Paramount’s new drama, “Wofnan Trap,” which has its local opening at the Regent Theatre to-day. Thrill follows thrill in a crescendo of dangerous situations, with death from the bullets of a gang of fugitive desperadoes facing Gertrude Michael and George Murphy in their perilous romance. Following a hold-up, a. .shooting fray ends the life of a double-crossing member of the gang, which makes for Mexico and hides out in a hacienda .belonging to a suave conspirator. The reporter, hot on fhe scent of the story, follows. The girl accepts the invitation of the gang to come along, and unwittingly serves as a. trap to hire the reporter to his doom. A snrpris’ng climax turns the tables on the gang, right on the border. Others m the cast are Roscoe Karns, Akim Taniirofl. Samuel £. Hinds. Sidney Blaekmer ami Dean Jagger. DANCE AT UNITED PAVILION. To-night at the United Pavilion, a back to childhood and hard-up datum, in aid of the Holy Trinty Church funds, will be held. A sumptuous supper, excellent music, and the best possible arrangements for the enjoyment of all patrons, should materially assist towards making the lum-iiou tin outstanding success. NELSON CREEK BALL. A grand ball will bo held at Nelson Creek on Saturday, October ,17th, in aid of the Catholic Church funds.
