(Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, October 12. Four hundred and seventy pounds was stolen from a house in Richmond on Saturday afternoon, representing the savings over a number of years of Samuel Matthew Woods, a baker, of 21. Forth Street.

The money was removed from a locked drawer in a writing desk. Between 2 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, when the theft occurred, no one was home. Entry was gained to the house by means of a kitchen window. After making a thorough search of the house,, the thief burst open the drawer of a writing desk in the front bedroom and found it packed with banknotes, some tied in bundles, and others loose.
