SUPERANNUATION
NATIONAL SCHEME Now Being Devised (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 22. The inauguration of the national superannuation scheme, one of the biggest tasks in the Goxeinment s programme during the lifo of. the present Parliament, is under consideration by a sub-committee of the Cabinet. Air. Parry, Air. Nash, Air. Fraser, Air. Jones and Air. Lee Martin. It is intended that the scheme be universal in application, that eteix member of the community shall contribute bv means of a superannuation tax. and that every contributor shall be entitled to benefits on attaining the superannuation age. The annual cost is likely to be fourteen millions of which the supei annuation tax of about 1/- in the pound will yield about half, and the State will contribute the other halt. Old age pensions will be abolished and will form tho basis of the State subsidy.
