REEFTON, July 13. The friends of Mr Richard Craig, farmer of Rotokohu, will hear with regret, that he is sreiously ill at Christchurch, his condition causing hie relatives much concern. Mrs ,_C. IL Cleaver was taken ‘0 Reefton Hospital on Saturday, for treatment. It is expected that het stay in the institution will b c only or a few days. Mrs F. G'utbmth left to-day tor Methven, where she will stay with her daughter until the arrival of her son. Jack Cutbush, the League footballei, from England, at Christchurch, on Thursday, returning with him to Rentton, , The 35th annual meeting of tae Inangahua Band was held yesteidax morning. There was a good attendance, and Mr F. W. Archer (President) occupied the chair. The balancesheet showed the financial position to be very satisfactory indeed, and complimentary reference was made to it by thio President, and Messrs Nicholson and Elliston. The Conductor considered the balance sheet very satisfactory. He was now in his 30th year with the Band, and as in the past, rhe work of the Band had been carried on during the year in a level-headed way. Mr E. Nicholson, Patrofi, congratulated the Band on its year’s work. The following were elected officers; Patron, Mr E. Nicholson; President, Mr F. W. Archer; Bandmaster, Mr 11. L. Robinson; Deputy-Bandmast-er. Mr W. Sara; Treasurer. Mr G. Reid; Secretary, Mr E. Baird; Conductor. Mr A. E. Elliston; Band Sergeant, Mr W. Sara, junr.; Corporal, Mr R. Baird; Lance Corporals, W. and J Honey; Drum Major, Mr T. Baird; Librarians. Messrs J. Earl and D. Robertson, Vice-Presidents, Mrs Stallard, Messrs J. O’Regan, T. Allen,. IL Walslcben. R. Yellowlees, Dr. J. L. Wicken, W. J. Duff, M. S. O’Malley, S. Newcombe, P. Kane and C. J. Brown. Mr 0. Potter broached the matter of further improvements to the Band Room. It was resolved that Messrs Reid, T. Baird and C. Potter B e appointed a committee to sub mit a proposal to the Band Committee, regarding improvements to the supper room. Mr Reid moved as a recommendation, that the formation of a learners’ class be considered. The recommendation was adopted. Delivery was to-day taken of their new motor engine by the Reefton Fire Brigade. Built by the Standard Motor Bod'es Company, Wellington, on a Ford V 8 131 inch chassis, the engine is of the latest design, and is similar to ones recently supplied to Carterton and Lower Hutt, be ng capable of a speed of over 60 miles per hour, fully equipped, while its quick getaway is a big asset. It is fitted with a newer driven siren, ladder brackets, hydrant clips and other fire-fighting equipment, and is of handsome appearance, the kick plates being of aluminium and the radiator shell, handrails and similar fittings, of chormium plating.
