LAMBS IN DEMAND Over-Supply of Beef (t-er Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. At the Addington Market, to-day, 2,600 fat lambs wore offered. The quality was better, creating a keen sale throughout, especially for extra prime lots. Extra heavy prime lambs brought 30/4; prime heavy 26/3 to 28/-; modi urn 24/6 to 26/-; light I' ” I ’ l 22/-. There was a full yarding of mutton and quality was good for the most part. Ewes predominated. Export buyers were operating freely. There was a small offering of store lambs. The wet weather has been jospbnsible for the grasses and feed remaining soft, and consequently the demand was weaker. For rape and carry-over lambs, values were easier from I/- to 2/-. ' Ewe lambs were firm and there was a moderate yarding of adult store sheep, with no outstanding lines, and mostly nondescript. Values were firm at late rates for both ewc-s a-nd, wethers. Over 500 head of beef wore offered. There- was an over-supply of unfinished cattle. Graziers were operating throughout. The best rpiality sold up to late rates, but heavy cows were 20/- a head easier, and plain cattle were generally easier by 10/per head; heavy steers per hundred pounds sold at from 24/- to 26/-; extra prime handy-weights to 29/-; plain from 20/-; best heifers to 27/-; medium from 20/-; best handy cows 19/- to 21/-; medium 16/- to 18/-: light from 15/-. There was a large yarding of tat pigs, with values at late rates: Porkers 30/- to 34/6; heavv 36/- to 41/6; baconefs 45/6 to 53/6; heavy 55/6 to 00/6; extra heavv to £3 z 7/6.
