N.S.W. DEATH SENTENCES
Fifteen Men Now Under Them

The New South Wales State Cabinet to-day decided to carry out two death sentences. One is that on Prank Howard Jones, aged 20 years, sentenced on December 2nd, 1935.' The other is that on Edwin John Hickey, aged 17 years, sentenced on 26th December, 1935, for the murder of a Labour Inspector on a frail). Jones will be executed on Alay 7th, and Hickey on Alay’ 14th, at the Long Bav Penitentiary, The case of another youth has been postponed for further consideration. Including the two youths now to be executed, there are at present fifteen men under the sentence of death, in New South Wales. The latest to be sentenced to death is James Earsman, aged 68, who to-day, at Dubbo, was convicted and sentenced to death for murdering John Hewitt, aged 94, at Gilgandra. The latter was killed in his hut on January- 20, the motive was apparently robbery, Karaman was recommended to mercy.
