VALEDICTORY
MRS L. F. CASEY. Yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mrs A/M. Carroil, Tainui Street, a arge number of friends of Mrs L F. Casey assembled for the purpose o: bidding her goodbye, as she is shortly leaving for the North Island to take up her residence, at Hamilton. A very pleasant afternoon was spent, several musical and elocutionary items being contributed by Mrs J. McKeefry, Miss Nellie McDonnell and Miss Moira Carroll. Mrs H. D. James, in a neat speech, eulogised the departing guest, referring to her many sterling qualities, her charitable acts, and her general hospitality to the numerous friends she had made during her nine years’ residence in Greymouth. She then called upon Mrs Carroll to present the departing guest with a handsome crystal rose bowl Mrs Carroll, in doing so. said they all sincerely regretted Mrs Casey’s departure, and all felt they were losing a good friend, whose place would be bard to fil-» and w’ished her, Mr Casey and all the members of her family health and happiness in their new horns. Mrs Casey, in replying, said that she very much regretted her departure from Greymouth as it meant leaving her many good friends behind. She had pleasant’ recollections of her stay amongst them. She thanked them one and all for the present she had received, and assured them all of a very warm welcome shoujd they at any time make a visit to Hamilton. The gathering concluded with the singing of “She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne,”
