INVERCARGILL SEAT
MR. HARGEST’S MOVE In Another Electorate (Per Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 15. “A situation, which was developed quite unexpectedly, in the last fortnight, has been the cause of my transfer to Awarua as a candidate, as Mr De La Perrelle’ s pending retirement, due to ill-health, has provided me with an opportunity to serve in the electorate where T live.” said Mr J. Bar* gest, M.P. for Invercargill, in a statement this evening. He said that he must confess ho was leaving Invercargill with regret. Until two days ago he fully intended t o contest the Invercargill seat at the general election, and, although the contest had pfomised to be a strenuous one, he believed he had every reason to look forward to the result v. ill every confidence. The result of hi< transfer would be to leave the field clear, and to remove completely any possible feelings of hostility or misunderstanding that might have existed between-the two wings of what was now the Nationalist party.
