A report published by the Imperial Economic Committee shows that in 1934, the United Kingdom was again the world’s best customer for dairy produce. In the ease of butter, British imports represented 85 per cent, of the total butter entering into the world trade. An order has been issued under the Agricultural Marketing Act to bring into operation on September 7th, the bacon development scheme which completes the plan of re-organisaton of the bacon industry by the establishment of a Board which will license bacon producers, under sueh eondi tions as» it finds necessary for promoting the efficient production, or preventing or reducing, excessive productions. The Board will consist of 11 members, three appointed by the Minister and four each by the already existing Bacon Marketing and Pigs Marketing Boards. . The Import Duties Advisory Committee rejected the Fe’l mongers’ Association’s application for a removal of imported foreign skin-wools from the free list. The fellmongers contend that unless imports are taxed manv businesses must elo?e down. Importers and users argue that as skm-woo.ls are raw material, the Government s policy of not taxing raw material should operate in thia case.
