Cities throughout France calmly demonstrated against the Government decrees for wage and salary and other reductions. At Lillie electricians cut off the current for a quarter of an hour and the omnibus workers struck for three-quarters of an hour. Af Rochforte, the dockers demanded the summoning of Parliament. Left Wing supporters held an indignation meeting at Angouleme. Ex-sold-iers demonstrated in several towns. PEACE AND UNITY. PARIS, August 11. Persidenit Lebrun, opening a war memorial at Metz, commemorating both the French and German dead, appealed for peace and unity. PARIS, August 11. Draped wi’th flaming red, Jwo hearses conveying th© victims of the riots traversed the crooked streets of Toulon. The finieral was attended by twenty thousand mourners, marshalled by workers wearing red brassards. No gendarmes were visible. The proceedings were perfectly orderly. The speakers at the graveside condemned the rio’ting. The crowds quietly dispersed. Two participants in the Brest riots have succumbed to their Injuries, including Pierre Cautron, whom Colonial Infantry Sergeant Eslan is charged with shooting, in addition to illegally carrying arms. A thousand civil servants met at Le Havre, and protested against the wage cuts and repressive police measures at Toulon and Brest.
